Choosing a top 5 was SUPER-RIDICULOUSLY-HARD!!! Just for the record. I have a hard enough time choosing the 13 images for my annual fine art calendar, and I have worked with so many talented women who are ALL deserving of recognition, and it was honestly heart-wrenching to leave some people out. JUST STICK MY HEART THROUGH THE MEAT GRINDER.
As most people know, our beloved Powder Magazine closed its doors last year. No more print publication. No more Powder Video Awards. HOWEVER, a small light still flickers in the dark void by way of the legendary Dave Reddick, former Director of Photography for Powder and Bike. Despite the shut down, he has been regularly publishing the Depth of Field series, honoring the photographers he has worked with over the years and challenging them to choose their top five images and offer insights behind them. Dave's influence on the ski photo world, by way of Powder, has shaped many careers, and mine was no exception. I had to say yes.
I offered up more insight into my career trajectory, and some factors in my youth that had another big hand in shaping my direction and the point of view I bring to the lens. They aren't things I talk about much in person, though perhaps I should.
