Behind The Photo // Capturing this particular eclipse involved a cold, but lovely night of camping, high up in the house range, marveling at the stars, enjoying a small campfire, waking up to a frosty landscape with an especially vibrant sunrise, and enjoying coffee with a view before loading up the camera gear for a hike to a high point offering near 360 degree views including the prominent peak to our north, the rest of the mountains and canyons stretching south, and a flat desert floor a couple thousand feet below on each side east and west. The clouds were just enough to add interest to our views, without fully blocking the sun. And speaking of blocking the sun... the temperature must have dropped 20 degrees when we hit the max eclipse! I was back to being bundled in my down jacket and searching for gloves.
